About Us

California DAR volunteering

The Santa Cruz Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was organized on July 22, 1916. Meetings are held in the Monterey Bay area on the fourth Wednesday of the month from January through May and September through December inclusive. Chapter members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing American independence.

While George Washington was still President in 1791, this lovely land welcomed the Padres of early California to establish the twelfth mission, the Mission of the Holy Cross or Santa Cruz. It is in their honor that we named our chapter when we organized in 1916. We have been a viable organization in our community offering our services in all patriotic endeavors, memorial services, and giving recognition to outstanding members of our community both past and present.

If you are interested in joining our chapter or attending a chapter meeting, please contact our chapter regent.
